PROJECTS

  • Frazier Winery Cave

Excavated with a road header and drill and blasting in soft to extremely hard Sonoma Volcanic type materials. Approximately 800 lineal feet (9,800 sqft) of tunnel. The NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method) method of support was used through out the excavation and lining. Project is completed at this time.

  • Granstrom Cave

Excavated with Excavator approximately 200 lineal feet (3,150 sqft) of tunnel through Serpentine and Franciscan formations. Installed a 25 foot diameter dome room. A combination of steel sets and spiling were used in the construction of the tunnel. The NATM method of support was also used to complete the project and lining. Project is completed at this time.

  • Kongsgaard Winery Cave

Excavation consisted of 600 lineal feet (7,580sqft) through very competent volcanic tuff to an extremely weathered and highly fractured Andesitic type material. Used a combination of road header and drill and blast to complete the excavation. Support methods included spiling and the NATM method of excavation and the lining. Controlled approximately 10,000 gallons per day of water intrusion into the excavation. Project is complete at this time.

  • Fleming Winery Cave

Excavation of 600 lineal feet (7,300 sqft) of tunnel in hard (up to 17,000 PSI) rhyolitic tuff. The drill and blast, and road header method was used in the excavation. The NATM method was used to complete the lining of the project. Project was left unlined with the exception of the initial 35 to 45 feet of each portal. Project is completed at this time.
